Parliament of Quebec

The Parliament of Quebec, is similar to those of Toronto and Ottawa, and is worth a visit. Here we find again beautiful stained glass windows.

One can visit the chamber of the National Assembly and the council room of the Legislative. The painting in the National Assembly shows the first meeting, when French-and English-speaking deputies faced each other and no-one could understand his counterpart. Today, they all speak french. In exceptional cases, if a member of the Parliament credibly assures to express himself in a particular context only in English, a native speaker is allowed to speak in English.

National Assembly Chamber

Today, you can count the number of MPs with an English mother tongue, on the fingers of one hand. Our guide didn't only speak about Canadian politics but asked as well questions about the upcoming federal elections in Germany.
