Designed by Austrian architect Ernst Hoffmann and built between 1992 and 1997, it serves as the government district and is in an architectural contrast to the old town. The parliament building is shaped like a ship and is therefore known as Landtagsschiff. It is the seat of the Lower Austrian parliament.
