Hamburg Alster Arcades decorated for Christmas
Our Hamburg city walking tour starts at the main railway station in Hamburg. From there we reach the Moenckeberg Street, one of the main shopping streets in Hamburg.

Huge old office buildings, called
Kontorhaeuser, border the Moenckeberg Street They served for the separation of goods which were stored in the Speicherstadt district (city of warehouses), from the Kontor (offices).

Worth seeing is the
Levantehaus with its unique arcade; it was built in its present form in1995. The frieze of endangered species is from Barry Baldwin, the stained glass windows were designed by Ada Isensee.
